Board of Directors Election: Meet Candidate David Bonom, CCP
Today is the first in our series of blog posts introducing you to the six IACP Board of Directors candidates for the 2013-15 term.
A Message from David Bonom, CCP
Having been an active member of IACP since 1997, I have experienced firsthand how valuable an organization it is. I remember nervously walking into my first conference knowing almost no one and feeling overwhelmed. A few short days later, I left having made friends and professional contacts that I would never have made had I not been a member. It was that realization that has fueled my ongoing participation and helped with my continual professional growth.
Part of my vision for IACP is to make it an even more powerful networking tool, by creating a mentorship program to pair individuals seeking to expand their knowledge in certain areas with members who are experienced in those areas. I see a global culinary organization that helps to educate from all aspects of the food world and, in turn, pushes for innovation and inclusion. Ongoing education programs on the local level are one of the cornerstones of making this happen.
As a freelancer I know how expensive health insurance is. In the past there have been discussions about IACP offering some sort of plan to members but it never came to fruition. I would like to see why it did not happen and how I can help IACP be the conduit that could offer a discounted program that serves the freelance membership as well as allow small businesses to buy into it.
It would be my honor to serve on the board and help push IACP to the next level. This organization has been invaluable in helping my career grow and succeed, and I want to see that continue for others.

The election will be held online between February 8-March 8. You will be sent the link to the ballot along with your username and password on February 7.
