What is IACP Connect?
IACP Connect is a peer-to-peer knowledge-sharing and mentoring program. The IACP Connect Program will take advantage of the wealth of knowledge within the organization by offering resources for individuals who will act as each other’s support and guide along his or her career path. The aim of this program is to create mutually beneficial relationships so that we all simultaneously learn, teach, and succeed together.
What’s New with IACP Connect?
Rather than the Connect team trying to create matches between mentors and mentees, the matching process will now be more organic – as well as provide more visibility for participants.
Each month, we will offer five mentors the opportunity to be featured on the IACP website, blog, and in Frontburner. This will allow our full membership to learn who you are, what skills and services you have to offer, and to give them the opportunity to be mentored by you in a field of your choosing.
After the month is over, all featured mentors will be added to our IACP Connect page so members can continue to view your profile and have access to your expertise.
We also understand that your time is valuable, so in this new system, there will be no specific time frames around your mentoring service to a specific member. In some cases you may only need to answer someone’s question by email, in other cases you may decide to partner up and turn your IACP Connect experience into a new friendship or business partnership.
It is up to you how much time you are able to provide to your mentee—and don’t worry, if you start to feel overwhelmed with communication by any of our members, you can contact me and I will find another suitable connection for them to seek assistance from.
Here’s how to get started as a mentor:
In order to get started, we will need a few things from you. Please visit our updated mentor form online and share the following:
1) Headshot- please provide a photo of yourself to include in your special feature on our website and online publications. Photos can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you want to use your profile photo, please indicate that on the sign-up form.
2) Short bio- let IACP members know what you are best at! Tell us about yourself, your business, and list the areas of expertise you are willing to share.
4) Contact & Social Media- Please share your contact information, including social media handles, so we can best promote and market you.
Our goal is to have every mentor participate by being featured on our site for at least a year, but if something changes in your life and you no longer wish to be featured, just let us know!

How to find a mentor:
We’ll ask you lay out your expectations for the partnership, keeping in mind that we want it to be mutually beneficial and fun. You may just need to ask a quick question, or you may want to try and meet with your mentor in person, though you can tailor your partnership term to suit your needs.
You and your partner can choose the best method for interaction. If you live in the same town, you could meet for coffee or a drink, or for long-distance partnerships, a phone call or a session on Skype might be best.
If for some reason, you and your IACP Connect partner can’t seem to get on the same page, not to worry! IACP Connect is just a quick email away and we’ll do our best to remedy the situation ASAP.
The IACP Connect team is made up of 100% volunteer IACP members (from left to right: Gaby Dalkin, Glenn Mack (board member), Aida Mollenkamp). Speaking of which, we’re now looking for volunteers! Give us a shout if you’re interested. That said, please be patient as we build this program and iron out any kinks. We’re all ears to constructive feedback.
Over the next few years, we’re hoping to grow this into a core piece of IACP. We’ll also be rolling out other features of IACP Connect, possibly including additional support such as a Facebook group, quarterly calls and more, so stay tuned!
