Winners To Be Announced at the 41st Annual International Association of Culinary Professionals Conference

May 16-19, 2019, Santa Fe, New Mexico, http://conference.iacp.com/

On Thursday, April 11th, the International Association of Culinary Professionals announced the finalists of the prestigious IACP awards, sponsored by Cuisinart, at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. Winners will be announced at its annual conference on Saturday, May 18th. This year’s conference features global food leaders, visionaries, and thought leaders from around the country including Danny Meyer, Deborah Madison, Nathan Myhrvold, Danielle Nierenberg, Jessica Harris, Lolis Eric Elie, Lois Ellen Frank, Nik Sharma, Kim Severson, Joe Yonan, Kate Krader, plus, many more.

“We received the most award entries in the history of the organization, which is a testament to IACP’s renewed vitality as well as the award changes we instituted. These changes included transparent processes and strict ethical rules, the convening of an awards advisory committee, and more than two weeks of free entry for select categories followed by some reduced entry fees,” said Tanya Steel, IACP’s Executive Director. “We are continuing to strengthen and streamline our rules, fees, and categories to promote diversity and transparency in our award process.”  Changes include:

  • IACP staff (either salaried, contract, or freelance) and members of the IACP Board of Directors, as well as relatives of staff/board, are not eligible to enter or vote.
  • Judges and voting are held secret.
  • Judging applications were opened up to non-IACP members.
  • Awards Advisory Committee formation and members were announced.
  • Awards were free to enter for digital, food photography, and food writing for more than two weeks and some award fees were reduced.

The 2019 IACP Awards Ceremony and Post Party, sponsored by Cuisinart, will be co-hosted by Lolis Eric Elie and Tanya Steel on Saturday, May 18th in Santa Fe at the conference. Winners will make 4-word acceptance speeches (inspired by the Webby Awards’ brevity). The post-party will feature dishes prepared by some renowned local Native American chefs.
